Why I Had to Slow Down After Breast Reduction

When I imagined recovery from breast reduction surgery, I pictured soreness, incision care, maybe some fatigue — but I didn’t expect rib pain. What seemed like a small complication became the biggest teacher in my healing journey.

There were days I felt like I was moving backward. But when I looked closer, I realized slowing down wasn’t failure — it was listening.

My body needed patience, support, and a return to the simple things that had helped me in the beginning. That’s when I learned that recovery doesn’t follow the calendar; it follows you.

Listen to this episode for encouragement to honor your own healing pace.

And if you’re in the middle of recovery, know this: going slow doesn’t mean you’re behind — it means you’re caring for what still needs attention.

Hi, I'm Shelley Beyer.

I’ve been through breast reduction surgery myself, and I’m here to support other women on that same path—before surgery, after surgery, and in the everyday healing that comes after.

I believe in reducing inflammation through a carnivore way of eating, preparing the body with intention, and creating space for the emotional, physical, and spiritual recovery this journey invites.

If you're navigating your own transformation, I’m so glad you're here.
