What to Eat Before Breast Reduction Surgery for Healing

Preparing for breast reduction surgery can feel overwhelming — but it doesn’t have to be complicated. In this From the Vault reflection, I share how I simplified my nutrition before surgery using an animal-based, healing approach that helped me feel calm, strong, and truly ready to recover.

By removing sugar, grains, and seed oils — and focusing on simple, nutrient-rich foods like beef, eggs, broth, and butter — I supported my body’s natural healing systems and reduced inflammation before surgery. This isn’t about restriction or perfection. It’s about learning to listen to your body and fuel it with what feels good and grounding.

This post is part of my From the Vault series — revisiting the earliest pieces of my breast reduction journey and sharing them again for anyone who may have missed them.

Hi, I'm Shelley Beyer.

I’ve been through breast reduction surgery myself, and I’m here to support other women on that same path—before surgery, after surgery, and in the everyday healing that comes after.

I believe in reducing inflammation through a carnivore way of eating, preparing the body with intention, and creating space for the emotional, physical, and spiritual recovery this journey invites.

If you're navigating your own transformation, I’m so glad you're here.
